Bilingual LLWR codes (LP88, LA26)

You may hear reference to LA26 and LP88 when discussing bilingual apprenticeships. These are the codes that denote fields in the Welsh government apprenticeship database that refer to the language of learning.

LP88 measures the amount of Welsh in a learner’s framework as a percentage. It includes all aspects of the framework including essential skills.

The LA26 field, categorises the language of learning for each part of the framework according to one of five codes:

E1 – English only delivery

B3 – A small amount of Welsh

B2 – a significant amount of Welsh

B1 – learning completed in a bilingual context

C1 – learning completed through the medium of Welsh.
